How unbelievable is this assortment of Rubik’s cubes? This is a reproduction of Michelangelo’s masterpiece, The Hand of God, created out of 12,090 Rubik’s Cubes, and breaking a world-record. Not only did this project take over 400 hours, but they’re going back for more. The team from Cube Works Sudio vowed that they will attempt to recreate the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Can’t wait!
Meanwhile, I decided to check out other pieces by Cube Works Studio. Their website is amazing. I just went through all of their designs and can’t get over the amount of work put in to these pieces. Rubik’s cubes aren’t the only materials used at CWS…dice, spools of sewing thread and other mixed media on aluminum panels etc.
These guys have recreated iconic images and paintings such as the Mona Lisa, Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup can and Marilyn Monroe, and various others.
