Furla Candy Bag

I just decided that my first purchase as a grown up, NYC girl will be a Furla Candy bag. I can’t stop thinking about this bright structured piece that would make any outfit fun but sophisticated. This will be a present to myself at some point this summer, and I cannot wait.

New Toms are in!

I have to say that my Toms shoes are the most comfortable shoes I own… and it’s quite the feel good purchase. Their One for One program is truely admirable. If you don’t know about this program, (you’ve probably been hiding under a rock, ha joking.) TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased. In 2010, they had donated over 600,000 pairs of shoes to children in 23 countries, and you can follow their journey on TOMS blog if you’re interested. Anyways, I just happened to stumble across their summer collection and am none the less impressed. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

Toms also has some great apparel and accessories such as the Giving a Pair Necklace, Tom’s classic crew sweatshirt, and the One-for-One v-neck Tee.

Nerdin’ out

How unbelievable is this assortment of Rubik’s  cubes?  This is a reproduction of Michelangelo’s masterpiece, The Hand of God, created out of 12,090 Rubik’s Cubes, and breaking a world-record. Not only did this project take over 400 hours, but they’re going back for more. The team from Cube Works Sudio vowed that they will attempt to recreate the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Can’t wait!

Meanwhile, I decided to check out other pieces by Cube Works Studio. Their website is amazing. I just went through all of their designs and can’t get over the amount of work put in to these pieces. Rubik’s cubes aren’t the only materials used at CWS…dice, spools of sewing thread and other mixed media on aluminum panels etc.

These guys have recreated iconic images and paintings such as the Mona Lisa, Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup can and Marilyn Monroe, and various others.

Check out their latest events on Facebook and Twitter.

¡Feliz viernes!

…(and Friday the 13th!)
Here it goes. I am officially done with my job in Philadelphia. Next week, I start in NYC. Although this is very bittersweet, I look forward to exploring a new city and to a more fast-paced kind of life. I’m also looking forward to a multitude of new ideas from the big apple. Meanwhile, here are some wonderful posts from around the web.
Image of  – Bison Carpaccio (Raw Bison) from Positano Coast where my coworker , Liz Q,  took me out to eat yesterday. Try something new every day! This place is amazing if you’re around Philly. We also had the Spicy Crispy Calamari (with goat cheese and cherry peppers) and the Fresh Mozzarella, Prosciutto & Roasted Peppers Panini. Yum.
